Welcome to Be My Eyes!

Be My Eyes is a support community millions strong, available globally day or night, and has volunteers answering calls in more than 185 languages.

Whenever you need a pair of eyes, Be My Eyes is a simple, free tool that connects you with our global community of volunteers and company representatives who are ready at a moment’s notice to lend you their eyesight for everyday tasks, and talk you through what your smartphone camera can see. You can also send pictures to Be My AI, an artificial intelligence (AI) powered chatbot, and get the pictures described to you in detail within just a few seconds. As it is a chatbot, you can follow up with further questions about the picture or description or just submit another picture.

Sign up as a user to get free live video support from a sighted volunteer or image-to-text support from Be My AI with tasks like reading labels, matching clothes, troubleshooting technology, setting up home appliances, or any other simple task.

How calling a volunteer works

Anyone above the age of 17 may sign up as a blind/low vision user or as a sighted volunteer.
Calls are connected based on daytime timezone and language. The average wait time to get connected to a sighted volunteer is about 15 seconds.
When a call is answered, a live one-way video (two-way audio) is initiated, allowing volunteers or company representatives (via Service Connect) to see what’s in front of the user’s camera and provide verbal support. Note: the availability of help from specific company representatives can vary by region as well as the company’s customer service opening hours.

How Be My AI works

Navigate to the Be My AI tab in the navigation bar just next to the Get Support tab.
Tap “Take picture” to take a picture with the rear camera and Be My AI will describe it.
If you want to ask follow-up questions to the initial description you can tap “Ask more” and you will enter a chat mode.

Be My Eyes with Ray-Ban Meta Glasses

Be My Eyes on Ray-Ban Meta Glasses is now available to all iOS and Android users in US, Canada, UK, Ireland, and Australia.

With Be My Eyes on the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses blind/low vision users are able to connect with sighted volunteers and have a hands-free calling experience. Saying "Hey Meta, Be My Eyes" will connect the user to a sighted volunteer, who speaks the users language, via a one-way video, two-way audio call.

Through this integration volunteers will be able to provide a real-time description to the user through their open-ear speakers, for everyday tasks such as setting a thermostat, finding the right supermarket aisle, or preparing meals - all while keeping the user's hands free.

The Be My Eyes service is completely free for the user, and is available any time of day or night.

Download the app

You can download the Be My Eyes app for free on your smartphone or tablet. It’s available for both iOS and Android devices. Download from Google Play or Download from App Store.

Sign up in the Be My Eyes app

After downloading, launch the Be My Eyes app to sign up. The app will take you through a short 5-step registration process:

Select to sign up as a blind or low-vision user.
Choose whether you want to sign up with Facebook, Google or email. For iOS users, Apple ID sign up option is available as well.
If you chose to sign up using your email, confirm your email address by clicking the verification link that is sent to your email.
Select your primary language. When you make a call, you'll be connected to the first available volunteer, who speaks your primary language. You can always change your preference and add secondary languages in the app settings.
Allow access to microphone, camera and notifications to be able to make video calls and send pictures to Be My AI.

You are now ready to get visual support.

Service Directory

You can connect with a wide range of companies to get support for their products and services, as well as organizations within the blindness community. The service is free, and you can reach out as often as you wish.

Partner profiles: A partner profile is managed by the organization it belongs to and may offer contact options such as video calls and chat using artificial intelligence.
Standard profiles: A standard profile is added by Be My Eyes. These profiles will have a publicly available phone number as a contact option.
