Making a test call
We encourage you to make your first call right after signing up, so that you know how Be My Eyes works and are comfortable using it, when you actually need it. The volunteers are perfectly happy to help you test out Be My Eyes. If you don't know what to ask the volunteer, you can find a simple task, such as taking a can of food from your pantry and ask the volunteer to tell you what it is. You can also just ask the volunteer to tell you the color of the shirt you're wearing or to describe your environment. It's totally up to you whether or not you want to inform the volunteer that you're just testing the app.
The importance of the first call
The first one, two or three calls can be crucial in your further use of Be My Eyes, as this is the time you'll learn how to use the app and get comfortable with using it. Using Be My Eyes in a pressing situation can be very daunting if you've never used the service before, and it is therefore recommended to take the time to test Be My Eyes and learn it in a more casual setting first. By knowing how it works, it's also much easier for you to realise when Be My Eyes can be helpful.
