If a caller's environment is too dark for you to see clearly, you may be able to turn on the flashlight on their phone — without them having to do anything.

When is the flashlight option available?

The flashlight icon only appears if the caller is using an iPhone or Android device with a torch. If their device doesn't have a torch, or if they are calling from a desktop app, the icon won't appear.

How to turn on the flashlight

1. Look for the flashlight icon in the bottom-right corner of your screen during the call.
2. Tap the icon once to turn on the caller's torch.
3. Tap again to turn it off, or it will turn off automatically when the call ends.

Note: The caller will see a brief notification that you've turned on their torch.

If the image is still too dark

If there's no flashlight icon or it doesn't help enough, ask the caller to move closer to a light source, or to angle their phone toward the brightest light available.
