Be My Eyes on Ray-Ban Meta Glasses is now available to all iOS and Android users in US, Canada, UK, Ireland, and Australia.
The following text is also available as an audio guide. To listen, you can Click here for the 'Configuring your Ray-Ban Meta Glasses' audio guide.
Before using your glasses with Be My Eyes, you’ll need to set them up with your smartphone. There are three steps in the setup, and they are:
-
Downloading the Meta View app and configuring it.
-
Pairing your Ray-Ban Meta glasses with your phone.
-
Linking the Meta View app with your Be My Eyes account.
Setup Step 1: Download the Meta View App
To link the Ray-Ban Meta glasses to your smartphone, you will need to download the free app from Meta called Meta View.
Once you have downloaded it you will need to open it and login to your Meta account. If you do not have a Meta account then the App will take you through the process of creating one.
The first time you use the Meta View app you may be prompted to allow access to Bluetooth. Tap “allow” to enable Bluetooth to connect Meta View to the glasses. If there is an option under the settings menu for ‘Meta AI’, you will also need to select it to “on”.
If the Meta View app is already installed on your device, please make sure it is up to date by visiting the relevant App store and updating if necessary.
Step 2: Pair your Ray-Ban Meta Glasses with your phone
Switch on your Ray-Ban Meta Glasses and make sure the battery has been charged. Find the on/off switch inside of the left hinge. Slide the switch to turn on the glasses and put back in the case.
If this is your first time using Meta View, you will be asked to select the glasses model. Choose Ray-Ban | Meta. If you have used the Meta View app before, then tap “Add Device” in the top right hand corner of the Settings tab.
Now you are ready to begin pairing. Press and hold the pairing button on the back of the glasses case for around 7 to 8 seconds. This puts your glasses into pairing mode.
Leave the glasses in their case throughout the pairing process. If you have vision you may be able to see a blue led light on the front of the glasses case after about 30 seconds. This means that the glasses are ready to connect.
If you receive the error message “can't find glasses” 10 to 15 seconds after you press the pairing button on the back of the case, select “yes, I already removed the tab”, select “no case?”, and follow the instructions. This flow will work even though you have a case.
If at any time you need to re-pair your glasses then goto the Bluetooth settings in your smartphone, locate the device name which will start with ‘RBM’ followed by some numbers, and click ‘Forget Device’. Put your glasses back in their case and press and hold the pairing button for 5 seconds to put your glasses back into pairing mode. Then simply repeat the pairing process that I described before.
Step 3: Link Meta View app with Your Be My Eyes account
Make sure you are logged into your Be My Eyes account before starting this next step. If you don’t yet have the Be My Eyes app on your phone then you will need to download it from your smartphone app store, and create an account.
You can download the Be My Eyes app from the Apple Store here, and from the Google Play Store here.
- Put on the Ray-Ban Meta glasses.
- Ensure that there is an active Bluetooth connection to your phone as well as an active data connection (either Wi-Fi or cellular).
